More on the Base Realignment and Closure Commission activities

The BRAC has approved the Pentagon's plan to move eight air tankers out of Fairchild Air Force Base. The Pentagon estimates that will also mean a loss of 175 jobs from the Spokane area military facility.

Cantwell apparently disputes those numbers, but also apparently does not see this move as as much of a threat to regional security as removal of 15 fighter jets from Portland.

I'm beginning to wonder why Washington's senior senator, Patty Murray, hasn't taken a more active roll in this matter. Nearly every recent news report quotes Cantwell or some other northwest politician.
